Road to Recovery Scholarship

Recovering from a severe injury can be a major undertaking. For many people, it could mean taking time off from school or work, essentially putting their lives on hold. At Farmer & Klopfer, we want to help uplift the people who are dealing with or have overcome a major injury, recognizing the traumatic effects of these conditions.
We are opening the Road to Recovery Scholarship to students who have suffered severe injuries or whose parents have suffered a major injury. This scholarship will be open twice a year, during the fall and spring, awarding $1,000 to one student per semester.
Applying for the Road to Recovery Scholarship
Apply for the scholarship by responding to the following prompt in a 500-word essay.
Essay Prompt
Describe the impact of the injury on your life. How have you responded to it, and what changes has it forced you to make in your daily life?
Essays should be attached in .docx format. We also ask that students provide documentation that proves their enrollment or intention to enroll in a college or university. Additionally, the student must provide proof of the injury. The digital application can be found below.
Evaluation Criteria
Our scholarship support staff will review all submissions according to the following rubric:
- Do you present a clear history of the injury and explain how it has affected you and your family?
- Is your essay or video easy to understand without any noticeable errors?
- Is your response original, specific, and compelling?
Award Amount
$1000 will be awarded to one student per semester

Qualifications
Before you apply, please be sure to review all of our requirements. We will only consider applications that meet all of the following criteria:
- You or your parent must have suffered a serious injury (such as a major fracture, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or amputation).
- You must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate program within the United States for the Fall 2026 semester.
- You must be at least 17 years old.
- You must be a citizen of the United States.
