Car crash claims 1 woman's life, leads to 1 man's arrest

A woman in Maryland recently lost her life in a tragic motor vehicle accident. The hit-and-run crash involved three automobiles and occurred late at night on a Saturday. Police said they arrested the driver who fled the scene of the accident.

The car crash occurred at a little before 11 p.m. Police said that the woman, a rheumatologist, was driving her car through an intersection because she had the green light. However, another car suddenly hit her car and pushed it into another motor vehicle. The woman ended up passing away at the crash scene.

The woman's automobile burst into flames, and the car that reportedly struck her collided with a fire hydrant. The man who was driving this car then ran from the accident scene, but he was arrested later. The two parties in the third car involved in the motor vehicle collision declined medical treatment.

The surviving loved ones of the woman who passed away in the Maryland crash may decide to file a wrongful death claim against the man who allegedly caused the accident, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages. If the man ends up being convicted on the charges filed against him, proof of the conviction may be presented in civil court with the goal of establishing liability. If liability is established before the court hearing the case, claims for damages will be determined. A monetary damage award in this situation may help with addressing burial expenses and other losses tied to these types of motor vehicle crashes.
