Two girls suffer fatal injuries after pedestrian accident

A sad tragedy has impacted a Maryland community. Very recently, two teenage girls were unexpectedly killed, leaving an entire community grieving their loss. Although the details are not yet clear, they suffered serious injuries, and medical intervention could not save them.

Both girls were walking when the accident occurred. Reportedly, investigators believe that as many as two motor vehicles were involved in the accident, and the drivers involved are cooperating with the investigation. Since the investigation is still pending, authorities have not indicated if either driver will be criminally charged for their involvement in the accidents.

Both girls were very active in high school activities, and both participated in three different sports. Although both were transferred to a medical facility for treatment, both died within 24 hours of the accident. Understandably, the community and the girls' families are in shock. People who are aware of the accident location report that the street is flat and straight, indicating that visibility for drivers and pedestrians should be excellent. Vigils have been held, and the girls have been remembered at school functions as the community learns to cope with their loss.

Sadly, serious injuries and tragic pedestrian accidents such as this one occur all too often. In many circumstances, accidents such as this one occur because a driver is distracted, impaired or is driving recklessly. Some families may find comfort in having a Maryland personal injury review the evidence in their case to determine options in civil court for legal recourse. With the help of the right attorney, some families may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit against presumed negligent parties.
