Driver's failure to halt at stop sign causes Maryland crash

Failing to stop at a stop sign is a very dangerous choice, not only for the driver and his or her passengers, but also for others in or near the roadway. Unfortunately, these road signs are often the scenes of many severe accidents. A recent Maryland crash was apparently caused by a driver's decision to speed through a stop sign, causing serious injury to an elderly couple.

On a recent Saturday, Maryland State Police were called to a multiple vehicle collision at the intersection of state routes 300 and 290 in Sudlersville. When troopers arrived, they found two profoundly beat-up vehicles. An elderly husband and his wife were found in the first vehicle, trapped and badly injured. The second vehicle, from out of state, was unoccupied. Witnesses say two males ran from the car and fled on foot before police had arrived.

The elderly pair were flown to a nearby hospital due to their age and the injuries they suffered from this incident, Both were in critical condition but stable. Police believe the second vehicle was heading south on 290 and failed to stop at the intersection, directly resulting in the collision. At this time the two occupants that left the scene have not been identified.

The victims of this car crash are likely to face a long, hard road to recovery. Once the driver who reportedly caused this accident is identified, these injured parties are entitled to pursue personal injury claims in a Maryland civil court. A successful claim could provide monetary compensation to cover the financial damages associated with such a collision.
